This Warframe Kubrow build works by using the Mecha set buff with a high status weapon. This gives the Raksa Kubrow the ability to do as much damage as possible, giving it more survivability and usefulness without losing too much utility.

Author: Siren Watcher. Published: 2019-11-09.

Why you would use a Raksa

The Raksa is a great companion (best-friend to Hildryn), as it gives constant shield buffs (protect) and a good amount of CC (howl). Personally I find it very useful in Elite Sanctuary Onslaught (ESO) and Arbitrations due to that added CC occasionally stopping me from being overwhelmed.

Siren Watcher Researcher Writer - Warframe Raksa Kubrow ESO and Arbitrations Status Build

Damage

Maul gives the kubrow extra damage.

Status

The dps mods; frost jaw, shock collar, flame gland and venom teeth, in whatever combination of elemental damage you want.

Mecha Overdrive and Mecha Recharge work in conjunction with your warframe’s Mecha Empowered and Mecha Pulse. Using all four will grant you many more times that the Kubrow proc’s the ability, but the full set is not required. What the set does is make it so randomly sometimes when you are killing targets, killing one will cause a spread affect to nuke the enemies around it (as can be seen in the video).

To quote the wiki, when pairing a weapon with the set:

The bonus is calculated from a weapon’s total modded status chance before multishot. This makes high-status shotguns a particularly good choice, as they should be built to reach 100% status chance before multishot, conferring the full 60% bonus.

Alongside this, when your kubrow gets a higher status chance, the dps mods (frost jaw, shock collar, flame gland and venom teeth) can give the kubrow a strong amount of elemental damage.

Survivability

Link Health gives the kubrow extra Health. Remember if you are on something like Hildryn then Link Shields may possibly work more to your favour. This mod works with “base” warframe modded health, not how much health you have each moment in combat.

Protect allows you to keep up shield regeneration.

Protect recovers shields similarly to Sentinel mod. Unlike its Sentinel counterpart, this ability activates consistently, as long as the shield capacity of the Kubrow’s master is not full.

Shield amount restored is not fixed, but rather in range of 150- approx. 290 . If shields are depleted during cast, 150 is always replenished.

Cooldown is inconsistent, more often than not, Kubrow can cast Protect twice over a second before entering a 5 sec cooldown. If used extensively (after approx. 15 cooldowns in immediate succession), Protect enters a downtime of about 10 seconds before Kubrow can cast it again. The “double cast” gives only a total of 300 if shields were depleted before first cast.

Utility

Fetch lets the kubrow loot for you.

Howl allows the dog to fear up to 15 surrounding enemies, making them walk disorientated and be unable to attack for 16 seconds.

Primed Animal Instinct (or Animal Instinct) allows the kubrow to show you enemies and loot on the map.

Other Mods

If you are looking to change up the build, Primed Animal Instinct is the default which can be exchanged out (as they only affect you rather than the kubrow).

Link Armor is also useful if you are bringing a frame with a high modded armor, or Link Shields instead of Link Health with something like Hildryn.

Primed Pack Leader (or Pack Leader) allows your melee hits to heal the Raksa Kubrow (can be exchanged out for normal pack leader).

Make sure you set up the abilities that proc’ such as Howl and Protect in the first slots on the left, because it will then proc’ them most often. Place either one in the order you wish the kubrow to default to casting first.

Why you would use a Sahasa

The sahasa is quite popular, arguably the most popular Kubrow. It is starting to become a frontrunner companion for Eidolons for its extra energy provided. And all round it is a useful companion due to its damage (ferocity) and utility (dig).

Siren Watcher Researcher Writer - Kubrow 4-Set Mods: Warframe Kubrow Mecha Set as Bonus High Damage

Explanation of how the Warframe Kubrow 4-Set Mods work in this build with video and gif examples using the Kubrow Mecha Set.

Author: Siren Watcher. Published: 2019-05-26.

Video

This guide is written in conjunction with the following video:

An alternate video host is Bitchute.

How the Build works

This Warframe Kubrow build uses the 4-piece Kubrow Mecha Set. Two Mods are placed on the Kubrow (Mecha Overdrive and Mecha Recharge) and two mods are placed on the Warframe (Mecha Empowered and Mecha Pulse). The set is then synced with a high status weapon. In this video the Nagantaka crossbow is used which has a base status of 39%, paired with the Kubrow it leads the Kubrow have 34% status. The Daikyu and Mutalist Cernos and other high status effect weapons also work well.

The Warframe Wiki and the Mods itself lack a lot of description so there is some discussion as to how the Set actually works. In the cases of personal testing, discussions on Reddit and YouTube comment sections, the conclusion is that the affects of the damage seem to be based off the primary weapon. For example, this Kubrow had viral damage (frost jaw + venom teeth) but I don’t think this applies as the Kubrow did not attack any targets to apply it’s status affect.

The Mecha Set operates by creating one or more focus targets that if you kill creates an explosion which kills everything within 30m. Usually extremely quickly as seen in the video with level 130 targets. Within the first GIF the kubrows marked target was the only thing killed which spread to instantly kill all 8 level 130 Arid Lancers.

I believe from testing that it goes off the status affect of the Primary weapon itself, even though the tooltip of the Warframe Mod says otherwise. It states, “their status effect” which I took to mean the Kubrows. I think this is poor phrasing and I believe it is the player’s Primary weapons status affect. So the more powerful the weapon, hypothetically, the more spread damage from killing one of the Mecha Set’s Marked Target.

Specifics

In the Gif the Nagantaka is not potato’d. It has in it; Serration, Point Strike, Bladed Rounds and an unleveled Eagle Eye mod. Oberon has on the two Mecha set mods which makes the Kubrow mark the targets faster. Sometimes causing more than one target to be up at the same time. Originally I tested the Set on Oberon because he innately has Radiation damage with his 2 which is a DoT but this didn’t really work how I thought it would.

The Warframe Kubrow had only 2 mods in it: the Mecha set mods. The gif worked exactly the same regardless of the amount of mods. For a Kubrow 7-forma build guide, usable on any Kubrow breed, a full guide can be found here.

For a summary; Dig and Ferocity (sahasa mods), Frost Jaw and Venom Teeth (raises status affect slightly, can be switched around depending on target faction, in this case it applies Viral status affect of 1459), Mecha Overdrive and Mecha Recharge, 9/10 Maul (for damage, raises slash to 1216), Fetch (utility), 9/10 Link Health (for health), and Primed Animal Instinct (utility). For a full dps build, I would switch out Primed Animal Instinct or Fetch, for Bite (crit).

Gifs of the Set in Use

Level 100 Arid Heavy Gunners.

Level 130 Arid Lancers dying from slash damage. I believe the slash stacks, if you kill the next marked target also.

Oberon’s radiation DoT not spreading with Mecha Overdrive.

In ‘the heat of combat’ sometimes the dog will mark more than one target.

Table of Contents

Siren Watcher Researcher Writer - Warframe Kubrow Choices: Which Kubrow for which Content?

Sahasa Kubrow

Sahasa (साहस) can translate to “courage”.

What's this Kubrow used for?

Damage and replenishing energy, health, and ammo.

Kubrow dog specific spells:

Dig, +270% chance to dig up “ammunition, health orbs, energy orbs, small amounts of credits, and occasionally mods”.

Siren Watcher Researcher Writer - Warframe Kubrow Choices: Which Kubrow for which Content?

Ferocity, +120% finisher damage.

Siren Watcher Researcher Writer - Warframe Kubrow Choices: Which Kubrow for which Content?

Warframe pairing:

Use with:

Any warframe whose play is extremely hindered by loss of energy. Examples;

Speed: Volt or Nezha doing a capture mission, if unable to use their speed boost, damages the need to bring them.

This kubrow will dig as soon as you get into combat so works the same as if you were using the Preparation mod.

Healing: Saryn being unable to use her Regenerative Molt which would save her life.

Defensive: Nezha or Rhino being unable to recast their defensive abilities can lead to their death.

In the above examples, one small bit of energy at the right time would save those warframes lives, or make the play more smooth. This is whom a Sahasa Kubrow is most useful for.

Do not use with:

A warframe that can manage without using their abilities for a while, has their own healing, or is never ammo starved; would find a Sahasa Kubrow less useful as a companion.

Examples of Warframes being able to do what the Sahasa can;

Nezha has an augment which makes his ability drop health orbs. Meaning he wouldn’t find some of the dig resources useful.

Trinity has an augment which makes her ability drop health orbs and energy orbs.

Play tactics:

Four Sahasa teams:

Before you have even had your screen load in a mission, usually a Sahasa Kubrow has already started digging. If you are running a fast paced mission like a capture, on something like Volt or Nezha which relies on energy to grant speed. Bringing a Sahasa to give you instant energy to start off the mission is useful. Teams with four sahasas would grant extreme energy for the mission start and allow automatic play with no ramp up needed to wait for normal or focus energy replenishment.

Burst Damage Environments:

A combat situation like Eidolon Hunts with a need to do a high amount of damage in a short time work well for a Sahasa Kubrow. With its finisher and ability to provide energy and ammo allow it to help burst down a singular problem enemy like an Eidolon or Boss. Extended high damage situations can be better for other dogs which have CC, defensive abilities or other combat utility. Any combat that has burst damage requirements are great for the Sahasa Kubrow.

Toiger, Sunika, Kubrow

Sunika Kubrow

Sunika (सूनिक) can translate to “hunter”.

What it’s for:

Damage and capture missions.

Dog specific spells:

  • Unleashed, holds down your target to stop it from running. Dog will prioritise some enemies over others to hold down. Like capture, eximus and synthesis targets.

Warframe pairing:

Use with:

  • Any warframe.
  • Whatever warframe you like to run captures with. Ie, something that gets from a to b quickly to kill the target then extract.
  • Whomever you do your synthesis dailies on. Example; a stealth frame which can walk around using the scanner looking for the target.

Do not use with:

  • If you don’t need any of the utility of the other Kubrows, Sunika is generally the “go-to” Kubrow. Unleashed is an all round good ability which can stop targets from being annoying when they otherwise would. The bonus of it pinning down a scorpion, or breaking through an eximus shield so you can shoot it, make it quite “loveable”. Therefore the advice here is, “do not use it with” any form of play where the other Kubrows you find a better fit for the mission.

Play tactics:

High damage environments:

Captures, Synthesis, Eximus sorties, etc:

Ripper, Raksa, Kubrow

Raksa Kubrow

Raksa (रक्षा) can translate to “protection”.

What it’s for:

Warframe survivability.

Examples;

  • Unlocking the star chart.
  • Places where you have high damage but not instant spike death, such as elite sanctuary onslaught.
  • Places where your pet can be close to you and all the enemies come to within 24 meters of your Warframe (examples are Excavation or Defence).
  • High AoE environments.

Dog specific spells:

  • Protect, replenishes 300 shields [activates consistently, as long as Warframes shields are not full].

  • Howl, crowd control ability. Fearing 15 enemies, within 24 meters, for 16 seconds.

Warframe pairing:

Use with:

  • Any warframe that you have built with mods that increase Shields.
    • Redirection, Augur Accord, Vigor, Primed Vigor and Link Shields.
  • Hildryn, constant shield replenishment for her to cast abilities.
    • Read comment here from reddit talking about how much shields you replenish and its usefulness.

Do not use with:

Play tactics:

High AoE environments

  • The ability for your Kubrow to just make an entire group of targets turn around and walk slowly away, for you to headshot as you please, makes this dog fantastic for big aoe environments. Because it stops you ever “getting swamped”. The targets do not run quickly, so you have time to turn to focus them still in range, before the crowd control wears off.

When enemies come to you:

Spike or Non-spike damage:

Huras, Kubrow, Merle

Huras Kubrow

Huras (हुरस्) translates to “stealthily”.

What it’s for:

Missions that are best for stealth.

Examples;

  • Spy missions.
  • Missions with a singular target.
  • Affinity kills / leveling warframes and weapons.

Dog specific spells:

  • Stalk, gives stealth to warframe, within 24 meters.

  • Hunt, charge attack, dealing damage (affected by bite and maul mods) on an 8 second cooldown.

Warframe pairing:

Use with:

  • Weapons that are stealthy, examples here. Or that have mods like Hush and Suppress attached.

Do not use with:

  • Warframes like Loki and Octavia whom have stealth abilities inbuilt.

Play tactics:

Logically, a dog will not run as fast as a warframe. A kubrow will glitch to you, jump through the air, etc. It “keeps up” but it still cannot logically know your movements and will be killing things sometimes and so fall a bit behind and then bolt quickly back to you. But it still will not be with you all the time if you are moving around hastily. A warframe like volt or nezha would be quite hard for a Huras to cloak. So you have two tactics here.

Spy Missions:

  1. Strategy is to bring a slow moving warframe to always have the dog with you, to silent kill targets whilst in stealth.
  2. Bring any warframe. Destroy enemies out of stealth, but before you are doing the “spy” hacking part of the misson, wait for the dog. Move with the kubrow in the same room with you to remain stealthed and keep in range so as to avoid alerting guards.

Missions with a singular target:

  • This is a thing because you can avoid every other target in the mission except for whatever you are hunting. Capture target, boss, maroo’s treasure, kavat dna farming, kubrow den hunting, etc. You can bring this dog and keep it near you and just stealth through the whole map until you find your target, kill it, then continue the same way to extraction.

Affinity kills / leveling warframes and weapons:

  • In this video, Ivara is used (other videos also use Equinox and etc) to provide stealth kill affinity multiplers. Whilst harder, if you have no stealth frame you can also try to do this with your companion.
    • Bringing a Huras without damage mods and just something like Medi-Pet Kit equipped (examples are places like Hydron or Helene), allowing the dog to put you into stealth to add to the affinity multiplier, may not hurt.

Chesa Kubrow

Chesa (चेस) can translate to “chase”.

What it’s for:

Farming dog.

Great PvP dog.

Originally this dog worked around picking up loot (specifically, Fetch replaces Retrieve), but now the dog works like Nekros and pulls more loot itself rather than just picking it up.

Dog specific spells:

Warframe pairing:

Play tactics:

Smeeta: Farming rare resources like Argon Crystals, etc.

Chesa: Farming common resources like Nekros.

PVP:
